The Exhibits

As Kingman Museum looks ahead, we are excited to share plans for future exhibits that will bring our collections and stories to life in new and meaningful ways. During this period of transition, our exhibits will be hosted in collaboration with community partners across Battle Creek and the surrounding region, allowing us to remain active, accessible, and engaged. From pop-up displays to fully developed traveling exhibits, each experience is designed to connect people with natural history, science, and culture while we prepare for our return to a permanent home. This page will serve as your guide to where you can find us next and what discoveries await.

Voices of Kingman is an immersive exhibit that tells the story of the museum through the people, objects, and discoveries that shaped it. Rather than a traditional timeline, the exhibit brings together artifacts, personal accounts, and moments of exploration to reveal how Kingman has evolved alongside the community it serves. From early collectors and educators to the specimens that sparked curiosity and learning, each “voice” offers a window into the museum’s past, present, and future. Visitors are invited not just to observe history, but to connect with it and see themselves as part of Kingman’s continuing story.

Date to be determined.

Edward Brigham’s Cabinet of Curiosities invites visitors into the early spirit of discovery that gave rise to the Kingman Museum. Inspired by the collecting practices of the 19th and early 20th centuries, this exhibit recreates the sense of wonder that drove Edward Brigham Sr. to gather objects from the natural world and beyond.

Featuring a diverse array of specimens, artifacts, and unusual finds, the exhibit reflects a time when science, exploration, and storytelling were deeply intertwined. Each object, whether a preserved animal, geological specimen, or cultural artifact, offers a glimpse into how people once sought to understand and organize the world around them.

More than a display of objects, the Cabinet of Curiosities represents the foundation of the museum itself. It captures the curiosity, passion, and sense of wonder that continue to define Kingman Museum today, inviting visitors to look closely, ask questions, and discover connections between nature, science, and culture.
