This summer, the Kingman Museum will be open Fridays from noon to 6:00 p.m. and Saturdays noon to 4:00 p.m. Planetarium shows will continue to screen at a quarter after each hour beginning at 12:15. Friday’s last show will air at 4:15 and Saturdays 3:15.

Our weekly hours are changing also. Tuesday through Thursday staff will be available from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for calls and scheduling. The museum is open Tuesday-Thursday to pre-scheduled groups, including school field trips, guided tours, etc. See the Education tab above for pricing.

Spring Appeal

Once part of the Battle Creek public schools, not-for-profit Kingman Museum, Inc. reopened to the public ten years ago. Our unofficial motto is “always evolving.” Three years ago, we reopened the renovated Mezzanine level, last fall our special exhibit space was repurposed as a multi-use room, and this spring we began a project to modernize the main level and polar bear exhibit. Your generous support has helped make this possible, and we want to do more.

We are working on new ways to show the public our priceless collection. Our monthly program, “Hidden Treasures”, highlights artifacts rarely on display; this summer we debut a new Native American exhibit, Sunday docent tours and private visits to our collections rooms.

Our many education programs continue, even going to the schools when they cannot come to us. Our educator, with valuable volunteer assistance, has developed a series of exciting weekend activities. We are participating in summer reading programs, providing prizes to grade school science fairs, and encouraging college students to volunteer through intern and service learning programs.
Our staff and volunteers have done amazing things; their hard work and creativity have allowed us to open our doors both Saturdays and Sundays, our summer goal is to add Friday as well.

Our goal is to raise $30,000 for programs and operating costs. To reach this goal we need your help. However, you also have the option of printing out a form and sending it in with your check or charge card information. Your contribution, no matter what size, is meaningful. Every penny counts.
