Caution Under Construction!
Many of our galleries
have been disrupted by the recent installation of a new HVAC system.
However, you can still see unique and one-of-a kind items on display. These
include on the main level a full skeleton of a Sabre toothed tiger
and dire wolf and a mounted Polar Bear that at one time was the largest
ever harvested.

On the mezzanine
level we have extinct birds such as the Passenger Pigeon and the
Imperial Woodpecker, of which only 140 or so skins are known to exist. We also have a rare collection of 52 human embryos
and fetuses, of which 26 are on display.

The two galleries
in the lower level have been completely renovated. The
south end is reserved for presenting three temporary exhibitions a
year, such as “Button Up Your Overcoat: How Animal Adapt to Winter,” now
showing. We present three new temporary exhibitions a year. Still
under construction, the north gallery features authentic dinosaur fossils
and other prehistoric items. Eventually, this exhibition will
include information on rocks and minerals and the earth’s layers.
