Our
collections are the heart of Kingman Museum and their preservation
is essential to its success. Volunteers and staff are currently inventorying
and cataloging the collections and entering the information into our
database. The Collection Committee meets monthly to discuss the status
of our collection and to set goals for the museum to meet.
Objectives
that have already been met by the Collection Committee:
- The successful
transfer and legal ownership of the collection from Battle Creek
Public Schools
- Removed items
from Southwest Junior High
- Completed
the installation of a temperature and humidifying control system
- Updated KMI’s
Collection Policy.
Future objectives of KMI and the Collections Committee:
- Complete the inventory of our collection
- Relocate all collection items into temperature and humidity controlled
rooms
- Rotate out exhibit items with items that have been hidden from
the public
- Replace all storage materials with American Museum Association
recommended materials
- Create an online collection site for visitors to view from home
